Scree slopes are common in the Montana Rockies.
Since it was hunting season we wore bright orange hats to avoid becoming accidental trophies. They were way too big but all the store had in stock.
There are several old mining cabins up in the mountains. Our destination was historic Carron Cabin, which is located high above the creek, with a small flat for tents.
Then next morning, everything down by the creek was coated with a light jacket of ice.
We ran into Ed Greskiewicz, a neighbor from the valley. He was up in the mountains hunting for elk.
