Helibucket Drop on Lower Babcock

A Chinook releases a bucket of water on the lower slope of Babcock Mountain. The success of the handline and back-burn was a major accomplishment, and turned the corner on the fire. The fire would continue to burn east, but now away from Rock Creek. The air above Rock Creek became clearer with each passing day.

New Friends

This crew of firefighters was from Ronan--​ McCalla, Pierre and Brady. For over a week they patrolled our section of Rock Creek and helped clean out and burn the adjacent forest floor to prevent new fires from spotting. This photo was taken over at Karen's -- we were sad to see them go when their rotation ended!
