Crown Fire on The Stage

Crown fire on the cliffs at the north entrance to Goat Creek canyon. The helicopter crews worked hard to save the trees on these cliffs overlooking Rock Creek valley, nicknamed the Stage. Thanks to the crews' skill and determination, most of the trees on the Stage were saved.

During the night the smoke would settle to the valley floor, making air quality poor in the mornings.

Fire Hose

With the mountains across the valley from our house on fire(!), I decided it might be a good time to upgrade our fire suppression system. I installed misters under all the shrubs, sprinklers on the deck, and upgraded from a general purpose water pump and plastic ag hose to a fire pump and fire hose.

With the new fire pump, hose and nozzle, we can put a lot of water on grass or other fires from a safe distance. Hopefully we'll never need to use it; however, it's not bad to have when you live in a forest that's occasionally ablaze.
