Dave in Montana

Dave flew east to visit for almost two weeks. Dave and I drove up Sliderock Mountain in the Mule, and went for some nice hikes on Rock Creek. Dave and Dad also headed off to Alaska for a week for their annual fishing trip.

Dave and Dad with the mule. Karen loaned us her mule so we could drive up Sliderock Mountain. Nothing stops the mule.

Rutted Switchback

Driving up Sliderock Mountain is not for sedans. The switchback on Brewster Creek Road is notoriously rocky and rutted. At some points the road is tipped off to the side, with gravity slowly pulling the road down into the canyon.

There are a few old miner's cabins along the road. Swanky digs!

Someone decorated a tree stump at the cabin with a gargoyle. It was unexpected and transformed the spot in a fun way.

We took a few hikes on the trails surrounding the house. The cliffs of the Bighorn sheep preserve can be seen in the background, along with the lower west flank of Babcock Mountain.
